This is a tool-assisted speedrun of the first four stages of Jurassic Park for Game Boy, performed by yours truly. This is the glitchless category, and I do have plans to do a glitched run in the future, so stay tuned for that.

Anyway, on to this game. The basic premise in each stage is to collect or destroy all the eggs in each part of a stage before moving on to the next one. There are some other goals in later parts of the game, but the majority of the time is spent dealing with eggs. Doesn't stop this game being a little difficult to play normally, and actually comes out with an entertaining TAS in my opinion.

Stage 1:
You start off with no ammo for any weapon, so I head south to collect a keycard and the first ammo. This is mainly used on the T-Rex fight, so I don't elect to shoot the egg nearby in order to conserve this rare and strong ammo. The most common ammo is the round-headed shots, and those also drop from enemies, although it's rare I have the time to pick those up. Overall, ammo management isn't too bad. Between the various ammo types and carefully avoiding or dodging enemies, I should have plenty for the later stages.

But back to this stage. I have to go all over the place to get into the first building. By getting all the eggs you get a keycard which lets you enter a building or access a computer terminal or something similar, so progress is gated behind the egg collection. After the 4 eggs in this building are done, I can head to the next building and get the eggs in there. The keycard in the second building allows me to open the main gate and enter Jurassic Park itself, ending the stage.

But wait! There is a stampede of Triceratops, and Tim is in danger. It is now your job to guide him through the stampede. This part gets pretty boring because you lose the ability to both jump and shoot, meaning control is limited to movement only. If Tim gets stepped on, you take damage too, so I do my best to make this section as entertaining as I can with near misses.

Stage 2:
A bit more variety in this stage, but not to start with. First part is your basic egg collection again, and same with the building following. After that, you jump into a raft and head up river. This part is where I take some damage to save time, getting through with just 1 HP left by the end.

Remember I mentioned a T-Rex would show up? Well, it's here, and it's not happy! Thankfully you can shoot it to cause it to back off, but it does return after a short time. You also have to guide Lex off to the far left of this long corridor section, all the while spurning the advances of the terrible lizard that keeps coming. I have just enough of the strongest ammo to push it back.

Stage 3: A longer stage now, this again starts in a large area with lots of eggs. Once that collection is out of the way, you now enter the power building to turn on electricity. Next part is to enter the computer area and turn on all the machines - but the kicker is you have to turn them on in a specific order. So, I have to run back and forth in this large building in order to do this. The plus side of this is that it does give me the opportunity to farm some ammo from a large raptor.

Stage 4:
Somehow we've entered a more volcanic area, and now we have found the raptor's nests. So we get the idea to blow them up. First, you collect the eggs to get you into the building. Next, we pick up some timed explosives. Finally, we enter the 3 raptor nests, get the eggs in each of those, and drop an explosive, getting out in time before they blow up. They do give you lots of time in order to escape each nest.

So that's the progress so far. The next two levels will be coming soon, and you may even see progress happen on my stream channel: http://twitch.tv/toothache42
