Recorded in 1980 and originally an instrumental track written by MacDonald and Salter, MacDonald contacted Withers to write the well known lyrics to Just the Two of Us. The song reached number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, staying there for three weeks, and was saxophonist Grover Washington Jr.'s only Top 40 hit. It also won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song.
At over 6 minutes long (with the original being over 7 minutes!) this is one of my longest fully flutifull covers to date. The vido was inspired by the first verse lyrics:
I see the crystal raindrops fall
And the beauty of it all
Is when the sun comes shining through
To make those rainbows in my mind
When I think of you sometime
And I wanna spend some time with you
