JW!Outertale OST - The Specter
Contrary to the popular belief, characters, like real people, do not exist in isolation. They are influenced by the people around them, the world they grow up in, and the options available to them. Which makes one wonder: what if a character-centric media, like Undertale, was placed in a completely different context than the one it was originally written into?
JW!Outertale is my take on the popular AU Outertale, fully exploring the ramifications of Undertale's story taking place in a completely different setting. Specifically, monsterkind now finds itself in a version of outer space, dramatically shrunken in scale to allow Undertale's premise to exist. But beyond that, we let the world run wild. Characters range from familiar to unrecognizable, as the wheels of fate have carried them to completely new places.
=================
The Specter is the first character you meet. It is an apathetic, ghostly being that seems to know a little more than it lets on.
Of course, the Specter is formed of the coalesced essence of Asriel, the prince of the Underground (but that isn't the full story, which I'll reveal once we get to the Pacifist-exclusive songs). As a being powerful enough to revert time, the Specter has grown very bored, and without social morality, it has turned to experimenting with the world. As it turns out, some of those experiments happen to involve the player character, Frisk, the first being the Specter has encountered with the ability to override its temporal powers. And they aren't really just "I want to kill you and take your SOUL", moreso actual mad-science-style experiments (which get interrupted by Toriel, but will return in a sort of Portal-testing-chamber style in the second half of the game). The Specter will eventually play a much larger role in the later part of the game, and will be the main focus of the Pacifist-exclusive story.
