Kaizo Mario 64 - Hardest Stars
I started this hack like a year ago but didn't feel like putting up with ttc back then so i dropper it. I came back to it on Saturday and decided to finish it. These three stars/endings are by far the hardest things in this game, the closest thing would be C2 Reds, but honestly it's nothing in comparison to these.
0:00 Bowser in the Dark World - Reds
Pretty difficult star, but unfortunaly I don't remember too much about it aside from the fact that i struggled with it. It's pretty infamous for being a huge early-game difficulty spike, and I can definitely see why. I guess I also liked to use custom music for stages with vanilla music back then.
5:27 Tick Tock Clock - 100 Coins (/ Red Coins in the Clockwork
This is where the hack gets truly difficult. TTC 100s, with TTC having exactly 100 coins, is by far the hardest star in the game, and no other star even comes close. The beginning of this star is definitely the hardest part by far, and you're pretty much guaranteed to get this star once you get past the spawning blocks red (9:03), but doing that is already really tough. I spent about 2 hours on this star, and even if I admittedly used a terrible strat for the spawning blocks reds (which I died to like 5 times, there's a much easier way to do it which you will basically never die to), this annoying star will almost certainly still give you trouble.
Btw don't ask me how I died after collecting 100s please
15:40 Bowser in the Sky - Ending
Alright, this might not be a star, but it sure is difficult! Welcome to BitS, with the model turned invisible, with 1 hp, with homing amps and fire everywhere, with no way to heal, with certain objects replaced with !-boxes/spawning blocks, and if you die to bowser, you have to start all over! The concept behind this stage is actually really cool, and it's honestly quite fun to play once you learn it, but I somehow ended up dying to the Bowser fight 7 FREAKING TIMES! I did genuinely enjoy the stage though, but because of this, I'm struggling to properly rate the difficulty of this.
Overall I really wouldn't recommend playing this hack aside from historical purposes. It's pretty interesting to see what the first popular romhack of SM64 looked like, but it's pretty terrible in comparison to extreme hacks nowadays. The only stage here that I actively enjoyed was B3, and honestly it's not even good. So definitely stay away if you aren't looking for some old hot garbage.
Also imagine forgetting to turn on input display for TTC and BitS smh
