Kamaitachi no Yoru – Rinne Saisei / Full English Playthrough (No Commentary, Some Endings, Read Des)
I was surprised to see that there was no Playthrough of this game on YouTube (Except that I found one channel that played crappy free royalty music and isnt even through 10% of the game though lol), so I decided to upload this. It's a blind Playthrough and I have never really heard of this game before. Anyway, this description contains spoilers (after the spoiler line) regarding the game/killer/endings/whatever. This Playthrough does not include Novel A (I have no idea what that is, it just seems like an alternative universe or something where everything goes well?), but I might play it in the future, some time.
4h 21m is about where I "finish" it. Onward is just me exploring different endings with new info or by just picking the other options. I didn't play the Novel A thing because I got pretty tired at that point after playing the game for like 6 hours.
SPOILERS (My thoughts on the game and questions I have)
I found there to be somewhat of a disconnect between me figuring out who the killer was when I walked up the stairs with him and then the character I play suddendly figuring out an answer to every single thing he has done, I really had issues figuring out why any of the stuff he was saying made sense to him, or he could have just figured it out. I also dont understand (later on in the video) Why he goes from "I WILL KILL YOU ALL" to "that was the first time ive killed someone innocent im so sorry" if you find him out just a bit later.
Another thing I didn't really understand was how in one of the endings the three girls end up horrifically murdered, yet for some reason Mari seems completely unaware of this and "happy"? It wasn't her, so why is she acting like she didn't somehow notice three of the people sheltering and trying to protect her being brutally murdered? Where was she during this time to be unaware of this? She went to her room to get the chain, sure, but what, she left the door unlocked and the killer noticed, and went after the three girls, but not her? By the time she's out of her room (which couldn't have taken more than a minute at max) the killer is already 1) not in the room 2) not in the hallway, so where on earth is he?
The killer (later on in the video) has a handgun, why does he refuse to use it when he the main character tries to confront him in the late ending where most people are dead? Why does he refuse to use it in general outside of those two scenarios where he is caught early?
Another question I can think of is, why on earth does he kill Mari and the Main Character when they go up the stairs to check the room? Won't he get found out almost in an instant? One of the reasons I picked him to begin with was because Toshio said something along the lines of "There's no way I'm letting you (main char) and Mari go alone up there, she could be your accomplice and you could destroy evidence together" and then insists going up there with us. This made ZERO sense to me, because he is accusing me of being the killer and Mari being my accomplice, yet wants to go upstairs with us, where, IF we were the killers, we could have easily killed him? I chose Mikimoto because Toshio seemed to contradict himself here, and it surpised me the main character didn't call him out for it, since he automatically suspects Toshio to begin with (?).
Overall really enjoyed it as one of my first VN experiences. During that "main path" where almost everyone dies I found it to be the most exciting, your options of suspects are dropping one by one, your main suspect turns out to be just another victim, not the killer, as you suspected, and the only people left are you and some women, who couldn't really have done most of the kills due to lack of time and strength on some of the kills. I found this path to be pretty unnerving and terrifying, so I enjoyed it the most. Another thing I found interesting is that in that "late game" where most people are dead, your lack of action / wrong accusations seem to lead to previously innocent people going insane and attacking their friends, or attacking you, because you seem like the only person left that was capable of causing some of the deaths.
If you've decided to read this whole description, here, let me ruin it for you:
Say what you want about the game or my choices, but this game is litteraly fucking visual novel among us.
