K.A.O.S. "Blowin' it up" demo #nodemosleftbehind Underground Rap from Detroit Suburbs circa 1999
I'm working my way through old demos I have, specifically a bunch that were submitted to me in response to ads I had posted looking for people to put on comp and split tapes. I got a tape from these 2 guys calling themselves KAOS (Krazy Ass Original Sykos) who were looking to get signed. I get the feeling they are ICP fans (already local heroes at the time) who were thinking how it works is you send in a demo and then someone one else promotes you to the moon and makes you a superstar. At least that's the vibe I get since when I wrote back offering to help pair them with another act and send them a master to dub their own copies off with and hustle, I never heard back from them. Probably the reality of being a musician on the independent scene being not so cushy was new to them.
I remastered what they sent ( a mono track recorded on a dollar store tape) and I kind of like it, I mean they got heart at least. I couldn't find anything about them on Discogs or Youtube, but that may be because -
A). They chose a name that was already in use back during that era (Kaos and the Mystro) which were insanely popular locally. How these dudes could claim to be hiphop fans from Detroit and not know that is pretty sus. Definitely Check the original K&M out if you haven't heard.
B). In the intervening years, like 1000 people and groups have called themselves Kaos. I can only dig so deep through search results.
