Chamberlain was born in 1923 and was one of the most prominent woman pilots in Michigan. She received her pilot's license in 1970 and had more than 2,000 hours of flying time. She participated in a powder puff derby race, twelve Michigan air races and five Illinois air races. She was the first woman appointed to the Michigan Aeronautics Commission, where she served two terms and was chairman twice. She was an FAA safety counselor and received three certificates from the State of Michigan for her contributions to aviation. Ms. Chamberlain passed away in 2009.
