Kato 10-1657 | TGV Thalys PBA | N Gauge/N Scale | Train Pack | Model Train Review | HD
8Here is my review of the Kato 10-1657 that is the TGV Thalys PBA in N Scale/N Gauge that is a train pack based on the TGV Reseau but is the Thalys version. The Thalys is a high speed international European passenger train that serves France, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.
The model train pack is very nicely presented and it is high quality. I did import this train pack from Japan and it did work out cheaper even with import fees because no one in Northern Ireland sells Kato N gauge model trains and the UK outlets were too expensive as I could have bought two of these for the price I paid for mine including import fees.
I am glad I got this train pack because its very nicely presented into a double book case style box and the power cars do have directional lighting. Although no saloon lights for the passenger cars. There is a Kato light set available for their range of model trains. So you can add one to yours if you wanted lights.
The train cars that are mostly articulated did couple together with ease but when uncoupling. Just hold the truck firmly and do a firm tug on the coach to release it. The couplers for these are the dovetail type and there is bar couplings for the end cars.
The TGV Thalys PBA model train performed very well in the performance test that I do on every model train review that I have done since around 2012. The handling is very smooth and there is no jolts or juddering when running at low speeds. Not sure is this has a coreless motor but it is DCC ready but not sound ready. You would need a small speaker to use sound on this model. Top work from Kato as usual.
