7Here is my review of the Dapol N scale Class 50 Diesel Locomotive. This model is based on 50046 and is named as "Ajax" after the naval ship and here is presented into BR Large Logo livery that is the refurb variant as would have been seen in the 1980's.
The model train is DCC ready with the Next18 DCC connection so you can use your favourite brand with this model train to allow it to operate on your DCC model railway.
The detail is amazing and mind blowing. There is directional headlights, painted buffers, flush glazing and NEM compliant couplers. So you can change them over with alternatives of your choice if required. There is an array of separately fitted detail parts such as metal handrails, wipers and other parts to see as shown in the video.
The model is presented with a manual booklet that also covers the DCC fitted and sound equipped versions of this model that is available from Dapol as an option.
The performance test was excellent to say the least and unlike the past Dapol model trains. No pre-run lubrication is required on these models from brand new. They run great and the motor is almost silent with most of the noise coming from the wagons and the coaches. The Class 50 from Dapol handled the Farish Intercity Mk1's with ease and no fuss.
