Katsukity 3DS Capture Card Test | Testing Latency and Smoothness
Oops, I jumped the gun, HD is still processing. Give it a sec.
This is a quick test to test out the latency of the capture card. Before, I was looking at my 3DS screen during gameplay, but here, I am exclusively looking at the capture software during gameplay. The latency is pretty much non-existent, and most of the accidents here are just me not being used to the slowness of Smash 3DS and controlling with my 3DS without shifting my console too much on its stand. You can totally play any game via the capture software without worrying about latency.
Another thing I noticed while playing is that while I'd record with OBS using the Software(x264) encoder, it would max my CPU out, and this would cause the capture software to lag and make this game hard to play. In my Kid Icarus streams, the gameplay might have been lagging too, so that sucks. As a result, I changed the encoder back to the NVENC encoder so that my CPU isn't doing the encoding. This made the gameplay MUCH smoother. I guess the capture software relies mostly on the CPU. Be aware of this if you are capturing the 3DS using OBS. The only downside to using the NVENC encoder is that Sony Vegas 14 didn't seem to support decoding those files, but Sony Vegas 20. I may purchase 20 for that reason, not supporting that format is kinda a deal breaker. My CPU is super old tho, i7-3770. An upgrade is way past due, but I really can't be bothered. My GPU is a GTX 1060 6GB, for reference.
