00:00 Do you know on Draymond, Brandin?
00:07 STEVE KERR: I don't. They're going to warm up and let us know.
00:11 When Kenny (Atkinson) — when you were hiring Kenny to your staff, what jumped out about him and just how was that experience happening with your coach?
00:19 So I wanted a — somebody more versed in analytics than I was and I had gotten to know Kenny from his Brooklyn days and always admired him. He was really strong with player development. And so those were two areas I really wanted to improve in. And he was the perfect hire. He was fantastic. He came in and helped us win a championship. And became a great friend and confidant on the road. And so I'm thrilled for him. I mean, what a great opportunity. And he's obviously crushing it here. So I'm really happy for him.
00:58 What stands out about the way this team has played under Kenny so far?
01:02 I mean, it's a two-way team and they've been together for a few years, so the continuity was already there. The talent and obviously, they were pretty damn good last year. So it — I think all of these jobs are different and this was a great job to get, just like mine was 10 years ago, coming into a team that was already talented, already a playoff team. And then now you're just tweaking things and seeing where you can get better in the margins, rather than trying to grow something organically. That's more difficult to do. So it's the perfect spot. And Kenny has taken advantage and the team is doing great. And, yeah, it looks like a good fit.
01:59 Apologies for running in here after Kenny. But when he — by the time he left you guys, just what did you see as his greatest strength as a coach?
02:08 He's just an all-around coach. He's not an offensive guy. He's not a defensive guy. He's not a player development guy. He's kind of all of the above. He's a tireless worker. He loves it. every time I'd call him, he'd be watching League Pass and he's a maniac in a good way and he did a phenomenal job for us and helped us win a championship and made me a better coach and covered up for my weaknesses. And so we — it was a really perfect marriage and I'm thrilled for him that he was able to get this job.
02:45 Steve, knowing him the way that you were getting into his mind, what elements within the Cavs are you noticing that speak to this as a Kenny Atkinson team?
02:56 Well, I mean, they're a two-way team and as I said, I mean, every job's different. All of us as NBA coaches are reliant on the talent and the character of our players, no matter what we do scheme-wise, no matter what we do culture-wise, we better have players and high-character guys and Cleveland has that. And so Kenny has just done a great job of, picking up where they left off. Everything that JB (Bickerstaff) did the last couple of years, helping to build this team, clearly it's been a team on the rise and Kenny has just added his touch, what he felt like he could do, to help the team get better. And it's — he's obviously done a great job.
03:47 So as you look at this Cavs team that has been together, that you've seen in years past, good, what looks different about this version of it this year?
03:56 Well, I think the natural growth of the team, I mean, for all these young teams that are together for years, there's kind of a natural growth that happens in organic growth. You figure out what the…
