A major milestone has been reached in the withdrawal of combat troops from Afghanistan. The frontline - once a network of more than 130 bases - now consists of just two. The Main Operating Base at Lashkar Gah, as well as the Patrol Base Lashkar Gah Durai, are now in local hands. British forces have also shut down Main Operating Base Price near Gereshk. It means just two bases remain in Helmand: Observation Post Sterga 2 and the sprawling desert installation at Camp Bastion.
