6The first fight with Axel is easy, he only has 2 cards and 1 sleight and none do anything but chip damage. Just a quick rundown, bosses with decks are not nearly as random as they appear. Depending on which card they use, they will use different attacks. You can read the Q&A below for more details.
Axel has 2 attack cards, his green attack is a long range chakram throw, you can hit him after he reappears. His blue attack is a running combo, if he misses, he stops the combo immediately. His only sleight is Fire Wall which as far as I can tell is undodgeable as it nukes the entire field. Just break it with a zero. I got a second zero before fight Guard Armor but you really only need 1. Easiest way to damage Axel is to just wait for his green card and hit him as he reappears from the teleport. You don't really have to worry about getting broken because Axel's deck is pretty weak at this point in the game.

Q: What is this game? Why is it in Japanese?
A: This is Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, an HD Collection for PS3. It includes the Final Mix edition of KH1, the PS2 remake of Chain of Memories and a theater mode containing the entirety of KH358/2 Days remade into an 2 and a half hour series of HD Cutscenes. I'm playing the Japanese version because it has a different button layout then the English version and I am much more comfortable with the Japanese layout.
Q: What do you mean by Green Attack / Red Magic / ect.?
A: Despite what it may look like, boss's attacks are not actually random, ones with decks aren't anyway. Their attacks are based on what cards they play just like the player. Attack, and Magic mean exactly what they mean, the red and blue bordered cards. The color refers to the background color. The color of the background is the same as the difference between Fire, Blizzard or Thunder, it's the attack they use. So basically "Green Attack" means an attack card with a green background. Unlike the GBA version, the different cards all have different poses in the picture if keeping up with the background color is too difficult.
