KH2 No X Button Postgame -- Sephiroth (Critical Mode)
Holy hell, this was frustrating.
First phase is trivial. Loop him with Reflect. Standing slightly further away when he starts his combo means we only need 2 Reflects to avoid damage, meaning more damage to him per MP Bar. Since we don't have the Cavern of Remembrance Item Slot because I'm an idiot, this is a handy way to conserve MP. Not actually necessary, though, because Limit Form can abuse MP Rage and the HP regain of its Limits.
Second phase, we want to get hit by Descend Heartless Angel, because that's a free Limit Form activation (and in fact this is the only way to do the fight without Second Chance/Once More, which I didn't do because I was pretty sick of retrying). He always follows up Descend with Flash, which is arguably the easiest attack to avoid. The goal is to double Ars him, but that doesn't work if he doesn't use his sword combo after Flash, since Ars only has i-frames at the beginning. Strike Raid works, but does far less damage. Limit Form has one particular handicap here: without the X Button, there's no way to avoid damage if you get hit by Upper Slash. Base Sora can Aerial Recovery and Reflect, but Limit Form Sora cannot use Limits in the air, and X-button Attacks are off-limits. Anyway, if you can get off 2 Ars in a row, you'll immediately enter the 3rd phase. Of course, that didn't happen here. I also should have used Ars instead of Strike Raid at 1:08, but I panicked. Oh well.
I got stuck on the 3rd phase for a while, and it quickly became apparent that I had to choose between either beating Terra first to get an 8th Drive Bar, or finding a way to refill my Drive Gauge enough for a second Limit Form activation. I opted for the latter.
When he hits the 3rd phase, Sephiroth has essentially no consistent pattern -- this is an issue for me, because I'm not very good at adapting on the fly.
By this point in the fight, we're either out of Limit Form or very nearly there. At this point, we want him to use the flame pillars so we can abuse Reflect's ridiculous Drive gain. Taking damage is worth it as long as you don't die. I suspect that this fight is impossible at level 1 without the X Button unless there's a way to hit him with Reflect without taking damage. Not getting into Limit Form isn't an option. He doesn't really do the sword combo or upper slash anymore, and those are the only reliable means of damaging him without Limit Form out of his entire arsenal.
I only ended up needing 1 Elixir, which is nice. I only even had 3 of them.
For those wondering, I chose Two Become One because it has the highest combined STR/MAG of any keyblade I have at this point (I don't have Ultima Weapon, screw Synthesis grinding).
Attempts: 70+ (mostly the damn 3rd phase)
Difficulty: 7/10
FAQ
Q: You used the X Button Shortcut. Why?
A: In some cases, it is impossible to beat certain bosses without four shortcuts, given that I can't use the Command Menu at all -- or at least, it would be far less entertaining, because I'd be gliding around waiting for my MP to recharge. The *spirit* of the challenge is that no regular attacks are allowed. The name was just chosen because it is catchy. Additionally, the X Button has no special or unique functions as a shortcut, so its *restriction* as a shortcut button is both arbitrary and stupid.

A: Fuck off and have a great day.
