This fight is incredibly tedious regardless of restrictions -- which hardly change the fight, by the way. I dislike it for largely the same reasons as the Shadow Stalker fight, except this one is worse because it takes 6-7 minutes no matter what you do.
I have to switch lanes *every single time* he summons Heartless, because if he summons Emerald Blues, and I'm still on the same conveyor belt, I will die immediately, even when appropriately leveled.
I never noticed that The Encounter plays in this fight. Oogie has exclusively audio cues so I never pay attention to the music while fighting him. On a related note, I still don't know why they used The Encounter for DDD's superboss. It's a good song, but it's not a *superboss* song. Kinda makes the fight seem "weaker" than it should. Vim and Vigor is for "high intensity/short" fights. The Encounter is for "moderate intensity/medium-length" fights. The Corrupted is for "high intensity/drawn-out" fights. The Tumbling (from BBS) is reserved exclusively for Unversed bosses and has an almost exuberant feel. Eh, I'm rambling now.

Q: Why aren't you using the X Button?
A: To force myself to play differently and examine other options the game gives me.
Q: Why not Level 1 No X Button?
A: I'm not confident I'd even finish the run anytime soon. Also, I'd rather show something that most players could conceivably do without tearing their hair out.
Q: If it's not Level 1, can't you just grind to take away all the challenge?
A: Nope. I'm capping my level at the lowest displayed level of any incomplete world. I will also be fighting Absent Silhouettes at the appropriate battle levels. Except Zexion. Frick Zexion.
Q: But you used the X button shortcut!
A: Damn right I did. I'm restricting myself enough by disallowing the X button. It's really more of a "No Command Menu" run anyway. No X Button just sounds cooler, even though strictly speaking it limits me less.
Q: Which bosses are impossible without the X button?
A: As of right now, Twilight Thorn, Axel I, Boat Pete, Luxord, and Data Luxord are all impossible without the X Button. Data Xaldin is not impossible but is incredibly hellish so I will be doing that with the X Button as well.
