Hey everyone, Welcome back to another edition of PlayStation GameZown Mini Reviews, where we take a look into PlayStation 3s Multiplatform, and Exclusive games. Today we take a look at what I consider the best FPS released to date on any console! I will go as far as to even say the best sci-fi shooter I have ever played as well! This being, of coarse, none other than Killzone 3.

In Killzone 3 you pick up right where you left off in the end of Killzone 2. Visari is now dead, but the Helghast have not broken. Instead this has strengthened their forces to be even more aggressive than before! Involved this time around is a new madman leading the fight against the ISA, and the plot thickens as rivals within the Helghast faction start to fight over how the war is won. Join Rico, Sev and the rest of the ISA team to fight against the Helghast, and their new leader, to put a stop to their reign once and for all!

The graphics in Killzone 3 are simply outstanding! After playing the first Killzone, I was expecting the second to be just as colorful as the first, but was disappointed in the color palette. However, everything that I loved about the first 2 Killzones seem to merge quite well in this game. I now have the colorful environments that I loved about the first KZ, and yet the sheer awesome destruction from the second is prevalent as well making Killzone 3 a visual masterpiece! Add the incredible looking 3D and this game is golden! i just can't express how beautiful this game looks! It's perfection at the highest level! 10/10

The soundtrack to Killzone 3 is also simply superb! This Killzone soundtrack is chock full of incredible orchestrated music that keeps your blood pumping all the way to the very end of the game! In fact out of all the Killzone game soundtracks, this one has to be my favorite! It's full of low undertones and sounds gritty and grungy keeping you feeling in dread most of the time. It's a real treat to the ears, and that's why it gets a 10/10 in the Soundtrack dept. This game has a phenomenal soundtrack that brings the sci-fi war directly into your living room!

What's a war without great sound effects? Well fear not as Killzone 3 delivers in that dept extremely strong as well! Sound effects of powerful explosions, gun fire, screaming, and everything else that make up an incredible sci-fi war game are all here in stunning 7.1 surround with incredible clarity. As things break apart all around you, and explosions go off at random all over the place, you start to slip into the Killzone world and lose all sense of reality. There are only a few things like the sound effects of the guns on the space ships at the end that pulled me out of the experience from time to time as they just don't have enough oomph, IMO, but nearly everything else in the game sounds really incredible. 9/10

The controls in Killzone 3 have been refined from the second, giving much more precise control and nearly no lag at all while retaining some weighty feel of the guns in the game. I will admit however, even though the lag feels nearly non existent, the weight of the guns feels much lighter as well and for those used to the heaviness of Killzone 2s controls, (and guns), will find this one a little different at first, but should get used to it after a short period. With the new Brutal Melee attacks and tuned up controls, I find this game a blast to play through time and time again! 9/10

Fun Factor: With an outstanding Campaign lasting about 8 hours, and some of the most incredible multiplayer online there is in any game, this game will have you coming back for more time and time again! 10/10

About this video: Killzone 3 is a game I have looked forward to playing since I finished the second. I have enjoyed the Killzone universe since the first came out on PlayStation 2, and have really loved the experience it gave. The enemies, friends, environments, weapons, and entire look of the game just thrills me, and I can't wait for the fourth game to come out! Playing the first game as Jan, and watching what happens as he fights along side Rico, and grows into a hardened Captain, and good friend. It made playing Killzone 2 difficult, getting used to being Sev instead, but by the time KZ2 came to an end you get used to Sev and find out he isn't some pushover either. Now in KZ3 Sev is back and ready to kick some ass! And it's nice to see Rico actually being of some help finally! :D

Bottom line: If you have played Killzone 2, you most likely already have KZ3. Those waiting on the fence about the game, wait no further! You are missing out on what might be the best FPS this year, or even of all time! Sci-Fi FPS fans rejoice! Killzone 3 is here with all it's splendor, and it's one hell of an awesome ride! 10/10 (Must Buy!)

This game is in 720p native, has Dual Shock 3 support, Trophy support, 3D Support, Sharp Shooter support, and DTS 5.1 / PCM 7.1 Surround Sound.
