Let's take a big break from focusing on memories and talk about the darkness within starring Riku, who apparently WAS in Castle Oblivion during the events of Chain of Memories after all.

Our story begins with our dark hero sleeping in some weird purgatory place between light and dark. A mysterious voice calls out to him explaining about sleeping through ignorance and waking up to find the truth. Perplexed at the voice's words, Riku decides to awake from his slumber and journey out to "Pursuing his true self" (Persona fans will know this reference).

We are taken to Castle Oblivion, a chateau governed by memories and cards. Unlike Sora though, Riku's journey isnt about memories but about fighting against his inner darkness. We are then granted a world card with an all too familiar image printed onto it. Riku uses the card into the giant door and suddenly we are taken into Hollow Bastion, Maleficient's and Riku's base of operations back in the first game. He takes his first steps into discovering his destiny.

Now, since were are playing a new scenario, the gameplay has been tweaked a bit. We no longer have to worry about arranging our battle deck or reloading during battle as it is all done automatically for us (which is a fresh breath of air) BUT that means we have to work with what the game gives us, thus requiring actual skill instead of spamming sleights all the damn time. Also we have no magic cards so we cant heal for now. I advise to be careful during this first world as the enemies CAN kill you if you dont attack quickly or evade their attacks. Luckily we level up quickly so we are slowly starting to build up our strength.
