Kingdom Rush Origins is the third installment of the popular tower defense strategy series, set in fantasy realities. Similarly to the previous parts of the series, this one is also the responsibility of Ironhide studio from Uruguay. The game is available on the AND, PC and iOS platforms, among others. In terms of plot, the title is a kind of prequel to the series, taking players back to the beginning of the whole story, before the sinister Vez'nan threatened the elven state with a powerful jewel of power. In the game, we try to stop the villain by leading our armies through new locations: elven forests, magical kingdoms and the ruins of an ancient metropolis. Kingdom Rush Origins offers players completely new types of sentry turrets and units, such as elven archers, mystic mages and stone druids. There were also new types of upgrades, spells and skills, thanks to which we use e.g. bears and giant trees. The army is led by nine legendary heroes, each equipped with unique powers. On the other hand, there are 30 new types of enemies, such as gnolls, monstrous spiders, or the terrifying Twilight Army. The mechanics of the game itself have not changed, and the entire production has been presented in a cartoonish graphic design typical for the series. Just like in Kingdom Rush Frontiers , the game features three difficulty levels and a useful encyclopedia. Mini-review of Kingdom Rush Origins - the return of the king PROS: Still the best tower defense implementation on the market; A long and challenging campaign; Perfectly balanced missions; Great variety of heroes and enemies. MINUSES: Few new ideas. Over the last few years, Ironhide has worked hard to establish itself as the best tower defense strategy team. Kingdom Rush Origins only strengthens this position. The authors did not risk any deep changes in the formula of the series. Instead, they decided to offer what fans of both the series and the entire genre expected, i.e. a refined and demanding strategy. This time we lead the elven armies, which resulted in a large set of new heroes, opponents and buildings. In practice, most of them are slightly modified equivalents of what we know from previous installments. Those looking for a fresh experience may be disappointed by this, but other players will appreciate the fact that it allows you to start playing at full speed right away, without spending several hours learning new elements. That doesn't mean there's no news. The option to manually control the heroes returns, but now each of them has been given the option to cast a unique and very useful spell. This makes us rely on heroes even more than in previous games in the series. The brand has always been famous for well-designed and balanced maps, and what Kingdom Rush Origins offers beats even the previous installments of the series in this respect. The levels are imaginative and challenging. After the first few stages, the challenges get really hard and winning takes a lot of effort. However , the game never feels unfair, and failures motivate you to try again instead of being discouraging . Kingdom Rush Origins does not bring much new to the formula of the cycle. However, it's hard to blame it when the game gives you so much joy and can completely suck you into its world for hours. The authors simply cooked us a mobile bigos and the more often they reheat it, the tastier it becomes.
