Painkiller: Overdose is the official continuation of the FPP shooter released in 2004, prepared by the Polish development studio People Can Fly. However, another company is responsible for developing the sequel, namely the Czech Mindware Studios. This developer is known for such productions as Voodoo Nights (PC, X360) or Cold War: Behind The Iron Curtain (PC, XBX). The continuation of Painkiller does not introduce any revolutionary changes to the gameplay. The fun is still focused on the mass extermination of monsters, using an arsenal of more or less bizarre weapons. The events presented in Overdose partly take place before the story told in the first part of the series. We also play a completely new character. As before, however, the plot plays a definitely secondary role, not interfering with the mass destruction of the creatures appearing on the screen. About 40 different types of demons are waiting for players this time. Many of these creatures appear for the first time, but some are already known from the first part. The producer took care of new bosses, modeled on those from the first Painkiller . These opponents are distinguished by both their huge size and the high power of their blows. The single-player campaign prepared by the producers of the game consists of sixteen completely new levels that can be completed on several different difficulty levels. The arsenal of available weapons has been expanded by six new guns. The player can also count on much more powerful cards in the deck he collects and is known from the first part of the series. The game also features an extensive multiplayer. The manufacturer has expanded, among other things, the options for tracking its previous actions. Multiplayer is also compatible with maps and game modes from the first part of Painkiller . Visually, the game resembles its predecessor, although of course many new graphical effects have been added. The action is still observed from the first person perspective.
