63That's right, I've labeled and timestamped every single theme in this login screen track! If you want to know more about a specific theme, just read the little description underneath its timestamp down there.
Like most other login screen tracks, Russell Brower is the one who composed and orchestrated the entire track. It's probably my favorite login screen track ever, since it finds the right balance between showcasing new themes from Legion but also bringing back old ones from the Burning Crusade.
Also, I have to say, the beginning of this track is just jam-packed full of little references to other themes. I don't think any other login screen track is that dense in the beginning like that, so that's pretty neat. I guess it makes sense since having the Legion return gives Russell Brower more of a reason to go ham on the references to older themes.
0:00 - Mire 1
In Legion, Russell Brower composed multiple stinger tracks that played during certain cutscenes or in-game events. Mire 1 is a short stinger that plays during a short cutscene in the Battle for the Broken Shore event.
0:06 - Legends of Azeroth (WoW Main Theme)
This is the main theme of WoW that Jason Hayes composed in vanilla WoW. Pretty much every login screen has referenced this theme in some way.
0:16 - The Burning Legion (TBC Main Theme)
This is the main theme of the Burning Crusade expansion that Russell Brower composed. Though a lot of it reuses Legends of Azeroth, there are some unique parts in it like this part here.
0:22 - Legends of Azeroth (WoW Main Theme)
After that short TBC callback, the track returns to this theme.
0:43 - Relentless
This is the main motif for the Burning Legion in this expansion. It's used in a lot of different themes, but it's most prominent in the Relentless theme.
0:55 - Arrival
This is the Arrival theme from Black Temple. Russell Brower sure loves to make callbacks to TBC.
1:05 - Anduin Pt1
This is the first part of Anduin's theme. It mainly plays in Lion's Rest in Stormwind.
1:25 - Anduin Pt2
This is the second part of Anduin's theme. This part is a lot more action-oriented and also features a little bit of the Stormwind theme.
2:07 - Fel Glade
Despite the name, this theme doesn't really play in many Fel or Legion-related areas. It mostly plays in the ruined parts of Suramar where the spider mutants are.
2:33 - Suramar Pt1
This is the first part of the Suramar City theme. Not as interesting as the second part imo, but still pretty decent.
3:14 - Suramar Pt2
The second part of the Suramar City theme. This one is a lot more memorable to me since I love how it starts all whimsical and then transitions into something more grandiose or intimidating. The full version also has some lovely piano in it.
3:58 - Preserver
A small snippet of the Preserver theme from the Halls of Valor.
4:43 - Highmountain 3
This is the third Highmountain theme. There's ten in total, and while I think 3 is decent, 2 and 10 are definitely my favorites.
5:45 - High Elf Tomb
This theme tends to be used most often around Moon Guard Stronghold in Suramar, but probably also appears in other elf-related places on the Broken Isles.
6:26 - Moon Rising
This is another prominent theme that shows up in Suramar City. This is actually a remix that Edo Guidotti made of the Temple of the Moon theme that David Arkenstone composed in TBC. Though I have to say, this version here in this login screen has to be favorite just for that inclusion of the piano.
7:15 - Preserver
Another snippet of the Preserver theme. I guess Russell Brower must have really liked this one to have featured it twice, huh?
7:34 - Canticle of Sacrifice
This is another theme that plays in Lion's Rest. Very fitting, given how much it sounds like a funeral song with those bagpipes.
9:21 - The Sundering
This is a theme from Fury of the Sunwell that mainly plays in the Sunwell Plateau raid. I decided to use footage of Kil'jaeden here since he's one of the only characters in Legion who has a connection to the Sunwell.
9:39 - Last Stand
This theme mainly plays during boss fights in Legion raids and dungeons. My first time hearing it was in the Maw of Souls during that iconic boat ride through Helheim.
10:26 - Illidan's Theme
This is the main theme for Illidan that was composed in the Burning Crusade. The only time it's used in-game is during one of Illidan's flashback scenes in Legion. But it can be heard at the start of the officially released TBC song called Illidan.
