Sierra Online re-released the original King's Quest: Quest for the Crown title in 1990 which allowed it to benefit from the higher-resolution graphics of their new SCI interpreter.
The storyline remained the same as the original, aside from a few minor tweaks to cater for the change from text parser input to SCI's icon-driven interface.
The SCI version of the game also featured on the "Best of Sierra" compilation, which also comprised King's Quest VII and The Incredible Machine, as well as on "The Robert Williams Anthology" which comprised 14 full games.
