32Since yesterday's video was obviously an April Fool's joke, here's the real #2,100 pick!
Anyone who's been following my channel for the past year or so probably already knows how much I've fallen in love with the Persona franchise, and I don't think anyone will argue that Persona 4 is the series' highlight. Its combination of real issues adolescents go through with fantastical representations of those problems is done amazingly well. And, thematic elements aside, it's a darn good RPG with a cast of lovable characters and a battle system that never gets old.
One of the most interesting parts of Persona 4 is its concept of "Shadows," malignant manifestations of aspects of the characters they’d rather keep hidden. Of course, they tie into the game’s focus on character growth and the ability to “face the truth,” but they also make for some great boss battles that are interesting and feel relevant to the story. It’s a huge improvement over Persona 3’s generic and forgettable encounters.
Another improvement is the boss theme, appropriately titled “I’ll Face Myself.” It’s exciting and climactic, and the way it’s remixed into softer pieces for the game’s more tender moments is especially clever. In this collection I’ve included the battle version, both event versions, the version from the Persona 4 Reincarnation album (which was later used as the theme for the optional boss in Persona 4 Golden), and the event version from Dancing All Night.
