The concept for this song is based on a Bosca Ceoil loop I made on 2019-03-17, probably after watching too much Anime. The result now is a 95% (excluding drum samples) FM synth-based VGM/Anime Rock thing, like you're in a late 80's video game, powering up your character and advancing through the stage. Possibly even Mega Man itself. Therefore I just couldn't resist porting the entire thing to NES sound hardware with FamiStudio. I'm cheating a bit; the NES doesn't have enough voices, not even with one of the standard sound expansions (I didn't want to fiddle with FM in those because I was going for the square wave aesthetic). So this rendition uses both the MMC5 and VRC6 expansion audio which is physically impossible. However, I think with some channel reduction (one of the square channels and the triangle channel are basically identical; the last square channel is only used for doubling the melody in the final B section) it's totally possible to fit this within the VRC6 voices and make it hardware-viable.
