Kontakt Custom Instruments on Maschine Plus
Quick overview on preparing and loading custom Kontakt instruments on Maschine Plus. Be aware that for this to work, the Maschine+ user account must own Kontakt full version!
Workflow:
Instruments need to be saved as NKIs with the “patch+samples” option and placed on the Maschine+ SD card in Maschine2\Sounds\ subfolder. After rescanning the SD card, the instruments appear in the browser in the user tab.
Additional tips for optimal performance:
Low CPU footprint
As little as possible DSP and calculations within the instrument. The source mode should be set to standard quality.
Low Memory footprint
Unless the instrument loads really small samples, the source mode should always be DFD, though there is a CPU tradeoff.
Low Storage footprint
Samples should be at 44k sample rate as this is the internal setting on Maschine+ and converted to NCW files. Samples should be either 24 or 16 bit, but NCW compresses best when the source wave is 16bit.
Fast load time
Minimal bare bones as needed basis KSP script, do not declare or prepare any GUI objects beyond NKS macros
