Step by Step What I did in the video:
Create a new timeline, name the timeline - click check mark off from use project settings - Check on the format tab at the top, left click on timeline resolution, click on Custom - make custom 1080p x 1920 then hit create. It should show two black boxes. Copy paste your video clip into the timeline or add a video from the bin to the timeline. It should show the video with a large black square above and below the video you added to the timeline with the video in the middle.
Next make sure your video and audio are unlinked by highlighting the clips and pressing right click over the clips and clicking on Link Clips are the bottom of the window that pops up or hit ctrl+alt+L to do the same. Once the clips are unlinked, left click into the empty area of timeline then highlight video 1, while holding down left alt left click the mouse button to make copies of the video three times above each other as seen in the video.
You can name these videos, by double clicking video 3 and changing the name to say Webcam. Next you are going to make sure the video 3 is highlighted then you are going to go to the lower left hand corner of the box that the video is shown in and bring down the menu and select crop. You will want to crop out your webcam with this crop tool, it doesn’t have to be perfect you can change it later. It basically puts a crop around the webcam for moving later then goes to video 1.
Where you will want to transform the clip to cover the black areas with the video, once you fill in the black areas then open up the toolbox by clicking on effects, find Open FX and drag a Gaussian Blur to video 1. Once the blur is on, open the inspector upper right hand corner and click on the effects tab. Slide the blur strength until you like it.
Click on video 2, and make sure to crop out your webcam, by using transform lower left hand corner of the video box. Once that is done, click on video 1, make sure transform is selected then left click to move your webcam to the center of the video. Once it’s in the middle of the video, you will see a long line with two circles on the left side, put that in the center of your webcam. Now you want to transform your face to be larger, so the audience can see your reactions. Once you have it as large as you want, you can go back and click on the lower left and corner and select the crop to make it perfect.
Lastly, click on the rocket ship using DaVinci Resolve 17 far on the bottom far right, make sure to name video, add a location to the video and have the format at MP4 and Code at H.264. Finally, you click on add to render queue and then hit render all.
