Korg M1 Synthesizer - 100 Preset Programs
187Hello everyone.
This is going to be this months keyboard showcase, and in the next 2 videos I will be showing you all the preset programs (sounds) and combinations that are on the Korg M1 synthesizer released in 1988.
This synthesizer has also played a huge role as well as the Yamaha DX7 I’ve previously showed last month, but this synth played a big role when it comes to the early 90s with the Dance/House/Rave genre.
The piano and organ sounds were widely used for the early 90s dance music, Robin S - Show Me Love was probably the most famous song for the M1 organ sound as well as Crystal Waters - Gypsy Woman etc, there were many more dance songs back in the day that used the piano and organ sound, and I believe the sounds are still being used today for today’s modern dance music.
I remember listening to a lot of dance music back when I was a kid, I used to listen to them in the living room and spinning around like crazy until I got dizzy haha, playing this synth has definitely taken me back to my childhood when I had cassette tapes such as ‘The Best Of Dance 92’ and other cassettes that included other dance music etc.
I got the synth back in May 2011, exactly a year after I got the DX7.
On this video, I will be showing you the 100 preset programs (that’s what Korg calls sounds) that are on the Korg M1 synthesizer.
I know that there are many sound/combination cards available for the M1, but unfortunately I dont have any of them, but I do have all available sounds from every card on the iOS app on my iPad, the iM1.
I will be doing a lot of dance references using the piano and organ sounds, so I will be using those sounds a lot more, I will add time stamps in the description, it will be a ‘guess the song’ game, so please feel free to write down in the comments of what songs you have recognised when it comes to the piano and organ sounds, I have also done a couple of references on the piano sound and one refernce on the organ sound that is from a game that came out for the Xbox one and PS4 last year, lets see if you can guess the game that its on as well.
I may in the future do more videos of this synth doing some dance and house references with the piano and organ sounds which will be intended as a 'guess the song' video.
