Kung-Fu Master, known as Spartan X in Japan, is a 1984 beat 'em up game developed and published by Irem for arcades.
you play as a Kung Fu Master named Thomas who has to rescue his girlfriend Sylvia who has been kidnapped by the crime boss Mr x. you have to traverse up through five levels of the devil's Tower and at the end of each level fight an end boss. The concept of the levels is based off the Bruce Lee movie called game of death from 1972.
The bosses of the first four levels are Stick Fighter, Boomerang Fighter, Giant, and Black Magician. The boss of the fifth floor is Mr. X, the leader of the gang that kidnapped Sylvia. Once he is defeated, Thomas rescues Sylvia and the game restarts at a higher difficulty level.
A port for the game came to the Nintendo directed by Shigeru Miyamoto, released as Spartan X in Japan and Kung Fu in the West, selling 3.5 million copies worldwide.
To beat the Mr X easily, simply crouch down and keep using low kicks. Thanks to a flaw in his programming, the boss will keep stepping in this attack until he dies.
