Kung Fu Street Longplay (Watara Supervision Game)
- Kung Fu Street Longplay (Watara Supervision Game) -
Kung Fu Street is a fighting game released for the Watara Supervision in 1993. In this game, which closely resembles Yie Ar Kung Fu, you play as a martial artist navigating levels and combating enemies. Unfortunately, the game quickly becomes monotonous with only four repeating enemies. Additionally, the graphics are basic and somewhat blocky—a typical limitation of the Supervision's capabilities—with limited animation that detracts from its visual appeal.
The game's controls, while straightforward, can feel stiff and unresponsive at times, leading to sluggish gameplay. The variety of moves is minimal; I counted only a mid-section punch, a low kick, a high kick, and a flying kick. After defeating the game five times, I lost interest. Initially, I nearly gave up after the first loop, but a defeat in the sixth round spurred me on to make a more determined stand, despite the repetitive enemies.
Among the niche community of Watara Supervision enthusiasts, Kung Fu Street is occasionally highlighted as one of the more engaging titles due to its action-oriented gameplay. However, it stands out mainly because the overall quality of games on the Supervision is relatively low. While it offers a glimpse into the type of entertainment the Supervision aimed to provide, it doesn’t compare favorably with similar games from the same era on other platforms.
Anyway, for those curious about the Supervision's game library, Kung Fu Street might be worth exploring, but it's best approached with modest expectations.
