Kyoryuu Sentai Zyuranger
4Translation: Dinosaur Squadron Beastranger
If Goranger put Super Sentai on the map, Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger (or Jurenja as it's pronounced) created what is known over here as Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Originally, the story tells of an ancient evil witch by the name of Bandora (Rita Repulsa in the dub) as she and her horde are revived after the seal was broken by some astronauts. It wasn't long to know that the wizard Barza was aware of this and five ancient warriors reawaken to combat this evil: Boi (Tiger Ranger), Dan (Tricera Ranger), Goushi (Mammoth Ranger), Mei (Petra Ranger) and Geki (Tyranno Ranger) along with the sixth, Burai (Dragon Ranger).
When it was dubbed over here as MMPR, a lot of the original footage got cut, the story was changed, and the characters were racially diverse as compared to being all Japanese. Where Zyuranger had a lot of fantasy/mythic theme to it, MMPR was an action show that graced the 90s and brought over quite a bit of the later shows into the Power Rangers franchise. Zyuranger, I feel I enjoy a lot more than MMPR because it has a lot more story and it has its moments where the drama stirs up (especially after Geki and Burai get reunited).
