L. A. Rush PSP Review
15L.A. Rush on PSP is a technical marvel, and I consider it a hidden gem, still, some call the game shallow. They say that the game is an incredible port of the PS2 game, problem is, the PS2 game is not that good. So even though the port is marvelous, the game is not any better than on PS2. But is it? I say no!
What makes the game lose so much is the handling, which is weird. But you get used to it.
The biggest downside of the game, is the fact that you can’t customize your cars. The story is cheesy and makes you collect cars. You don’t hold onto one car, which you tune. No, you constantly switch cars and you get to the Pimp my ride shop, and they customize it for you. It’s sad to watch that you can’t customize your own car.
The map is the same from the PS2 game. There are 4 areas. You get free roam, which is amazing, and you get the same damage model as on PS2. It’s the best damage model you get on a PSP game.
The graphics have been described by many as being ugly, but for me they are okay. I like how full the map is. Though, I don’t like that traffic cars repeat.
There are races in the game time trials, cruise races, and also chases when you steal a car. And when you get into a chase it’s funny how AI cars give all they’ve got just to ram into you. You get a stunt arena!! And Multiplayer. Contentwise the game has a lot to offer. There are 50 cars in the game.
Another amazing detail is that each car hadles different. Sure, the handling is weird at first, but it’s still nice that each car handles in a unique way. Also, each car sounds different. For example you can hear the turbo in a Mitsubishi Lancer and the roar in a Dodge Challenger.
All in all, I consider the game a hidden gem. . It’s amazing that you have free roam, big maps, a nice damage model, the handling is weird and it sucks that you don’t have customization. I consider this to be the biggest downside of the game. But overall, I recommend you the game. It will surprise you for sure!
