La-Mulana 2 - Surtr as 9th Guardian [Hard Mode, No Subweapon/Hot Spring/Fairy]
6I experienced a bug I haven't seen anyone else who's played La-Mulana 2 talk about. My gates puzzle didn't work correctly, which allowed me to complete it before defeating Surtr and Vidofnir. I have no idea how this happened or how I might have triggered it. So, I was able to defeat Hel before Surtr, and therefore fight Surtr as my 9th and final guardian, which is not normally possible, giving him the largest possible HP bar.
Someone has already shown all 9 guardians on Hard Mode with No Subweapons, Hot Springs, or Fairies, but being able to fight Surtr last is something with no known method of reproducing that may be patched out soon, so I had a unique opportunity to show what he's like as the 9th guardian on Hard Mode.
Yes, I'm using the Angel Shield if you want to count that as a subweapon. The achievements in both La-Mulana 1 and 2 that ask you to beat all bosses without subweapons do not count it, so I did not either. Really, it barely makes a difference in this fight... I had it on "just in case."
By the way, there is no way to make the game look like this... I manually cropped out the black bars and decorative border in post. Just because I had to put up with windowboxing doesn't mean you should have to. I really hope that's something they fix soon...
