65Week 7 of iRacing’s 2022 Season 2 sees The Touring Car Turn Racing Challenge move from the wide-open straights of Elkhart Lake to the comparatively slow and sandy confines of Laguna Seca.
Widely known as the ‘Knockhill of California’*, Laguna Seca isn’t a favourite of Dave’s. As ever though, Dave focuses on helping iRacers improve their consistency to help gain positions – as Dave said himself, his videos are “not a place for hot laps.”
Players wishing to take part in the series can choose from iRacing’s four officially-licensed TCR cars; the Audi RS3 LMS, the Honda Civic Type R, the Hyundai Veloster N TC and Dave’s own weapon of choice, the Hyundai Elantra N.
Laguna Seca, or WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca to give it its official name, is situated in Monterey County, California. Famous for its desert-like run-off areas, Laguna Seca is home to one of the most iconic corners in the world – the 59-foot elevation drop chicane known as the Corkscrew.
Famous for hosting series like the American Le Mans Series and Champ Cars, Laguna Seca is perhaps most synonymous with Can-Am racing in the sixties, in part thanks to the track layout remaining unchanged through the decades.
Nowhere is Laguna Seca’s unforgiving nature more apparent than its tricky pitlane entry, which Dave talks us through in great detail, seeing as it can be the difference between gaining positions and ruining your race with a visit to the tyre barrier.
