As said in the first minute of the video: I can't honestly tell what maxing out the bar from hitting the purple diamonds / seals does, so if I am stupid and can't find 1 or 2 I am not going to waste so much time looking for them that I die.

Maybe it will be easy to notice as I keep playing, or maybe I just won't get lost so easily.

Wasting time also makes the enemies stronger, and I assume you don't benefit at all from that, but maybe they could drop better items or be more of them with higher Difficulty Levels.
