Laser Ghost On SEGA Master System Part 1
This is my COMPLETE playthrough of Laser Ghost on SEGA Master System.
This game was made in Japan in 1991 and released on SEGA Master System in PAL regions only, it is an 8-bit shooting game where you take on the role of the Laser Ghost shooting, guiding and protecting young 10 year old Catherine. This game is heavily influenced by the 1988 horror film ''Poltergeist III'' and shares extreme similarities to that film. There was also an Arcade release sharing the same title name of ''Laser Ghost'' released by SEGA in 1989 which played more like ''Alien Storm'' and was more influenced by the hit film ''Ghostbusters''.
In this game there are extreme similarities referencing the film Poltergeist III, for starters the girl Catherine is made to resemble Heather O''Rourke from Poltergeist III, in chapter 6 there is a man who resembles Tom Skerritt who also starred in Poltergeist III and there is a scene in the movie where cars in a parking garage come to life and start attacking Carol Anne's aunt and uncle which also happens in this game, also there is a scene in the film where a pair of grotesque hands grab the girl which also happens in this game, there is also an evil old man in the film who trys to posses the little girl and steal her soul which is almost identical to the storyline in this video game and the old man is also in this game. There is another scene in the film right at the end where Carol Anne's aunty knocks the ghosts head off with a shovel and the head keeps moving, a similar boss scene is present at the end of chapter 3.
Bottom line is that this game is a parody of Poltergeist III just different names, in the game it's called Laser Ghost and the girl's name is Catherine instead of Carol Anne. This game is quite easy up until the last chapter where it starts getting very difficult! It's almost a game of chance to complete it. It took me 19 years to finally finish this game having been stuck on it originally at the age of 9 in 1993.
This game has beautiful graphics and a hot soundtrack and can be playable with either the SEGA Light Phaser gun or a standard control pad and is a perfect Master System game for your collection. You don't play as the girl instead you play as the gunsight on screen to shoot the many nasty ghosts and goblins that are standing in the way.
LEVELS:
Chapter 1. Demon Manor
Chapter 2. The Haunted Portrait (Dr. Seaton's Office In Poltergeist III)
Chapter 3. Demon Woods (Grandma Jess's Backyard In Poltergeist II)
Chapter 4. The Sinister Swamp
Chapter 5. The City Of Terror (Downtown Chicago In Poltergeist III)
Chapter 6. Beyond Horror Hotel (John Hancock Sky Scraper In Poltergeist III)
Chpater 7. The Final Chapter (Carol Anne's Room In Poltergeist III)
This dickhead below in the link has posted a page trying to embarrass me and my findings by ridiculously saying that I think the character sprite of Katherine really is Heather O' Rourke and that i'm obsessed with connecting Laser Ghost and Poltergeist III in an unhealthy way. My findings are genuine and i've only ever said that there is great similarities between the two and this guy can get stuffed!
