IMAX released their new poster for the upcoming Kong: Skull Island and for film lovers, the homage to a certain Francis Ford Coppola classic is hard to miss. On top of the new poster comes confirmation that a character from the movie is the connective tissue to Godzilla and the universe Legendary and Warners’ are building. According to an interview on CinemaBelnd, despite the fact that Kong takes place roughly 40 years before the events of Godzilla, John Goodman’s character has been revealed to be the connection that ties Kong and Godzilla together.
According to Variety, Colin Farrell is in negotiations for Inner City, the directorial follow up to Nightcrawler from director Dan Gilroy. Farrell will play an attorney alongside Denzel Washington’s Roman J. Israel, a hard-nosed liberal attorney who, after his partner and mentor dies of a heart attack, is recruited by an influential and successful law firm. Israel has spent much of his life helping the poor and troubled, but he learns his new law firm’s dark history goes against what he stands for. Farrell will play the money hungry attorney who hires Israel. Shooting begins this March.

After word that Ben Affleck would no longer be directing the upcoming solo Batman movie, buried in all this news was another detail that the Batman script was actually undergoing a re-write by another writer not named Geoff Johns and Ben Affleck. Thanks to Deadline, via ComingSoon.net, Justice League and Batman v Superman writer Chris Terrio is said to have penned the most recent draft of The Batman and recently turned it in. As the dust settles, we’re left now to speculate on whether this new draft is a rewrite of Affleck and Johns’ script or a whole new take.
New Line has released a new Red Band trailer for Fist Fight. Charlie Day stars as mild-mannered high school English teacher Andy Campbell who, on the last day of school, crosses the school’s toughest and most feared teacher Ron Strickland, played by Ice Cube, causing Strickland to be fired. To Campbell’s shock Strickland responds by challenging him to a fist fight after school. Fist Fight also stars Christina Hendricks, Dean Norris, Jillian Bell, and Kumail Nanjiani. It opens in theaters on February 17, 2017.
According to Variety, Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn will re-team to star in Dragged Across Concrete, a crime thriller about police brutality that will be directed by Bone Tomahawk’s S. Craig Zahler. Gibson and Vaughn will play cops who are suspended when a video of their police tactics gets wide attention. They then descend into the criminal underworld to exact vengeance. No release date has been set.
