LaurentheFlute has a bad time with Stray #3: Rooftops (and cat distress)
So I have sat on this video for, uh, a month and a half? The reason is that I wound up having a really hard time with this game. At first it was just that I have a hard time emotionally with cat distress — it's literally a triggering thing for me, as we discovered early on, and it comes back in this game in ways that were pretty upsetting to me. Also, the game becomes survival horror! It outright pulls from survival horror visual tropes and gameplay elements. So there's an almost half-hour section of this video in which I put the game on PAUSE and talked myself through my feelings before I was ready to give the Zurk sections another try.
I did go through and finish the rest of the game, but my complaints eventually changed from "this genre of game is not something I can handle" to "I think this game is deeply, maybe unforgivably flawed" ... so I will go through the rest of the Stray videos and upload them, but please be warned, because if you expected me to love this game — and _I_ expected me to love this game!! — you may wind up disappointed. But I tried to be constructive in my criticism of the game, rather than mean, as much as I could. (I am so, so worried that people are going to be upset about this playthrough. I'm so sorry! I tried very hard to love this game!)
