Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.

As a Leader, we have the power to make or break our team, the direction / goals of our team and each individual member of the team.

If we praise, appreciate, give credits to our team members for their accomplishments and contribution, they will continue to perform better.

In the same way, if we criticize, find fault, blame them for any mistakes or mess, the engagement of our team members will decrease and they will not feel appreciated or devalued.

HOW DO WE ADDRESS THIS?
We need to check our head - what we think
and our HEART - what is inside of it

In Luke 6:45 it says for the mouth speaks what the heart is full of

So we need to do what the Psalmist says on Psalms 119:11
Your words I have hidden in my heart that I might not sin against you.

and for what we THINK:
Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

As a leader we need to watch our words by keeping what is inside our heart and what we usually think of.
