8,564I've been learning hip hop dance for 1 year & made a compilation / time lapse with all of the dances I learned incl for kpop π

6 months - 2nd row abs, fluidity & bigger moves

I def improved a LOT technically & in confidence- in the beginning I was really scared to make mistakes & also really sloppy with moves & stiff at the same time.
An important factor I found in confidence is knowing it's ok & natural to make mistakes even after 10y of dancing- we're not robots lol just knowing what mistakes you made can help focus on those to improve so it's actually good to make mistakes & recognize them!
The question I get most is how to get started - I'll ask back "do you want to dance?" if the answer is yes then my two words is "dance!" & "try!"
Find a class in your area & just try classes- if they're hard, go a level down, try them over and over; when you feel you are getting the hang of that level, move up a level to keep improving!
You can see from the timestamps in the video, I was going to 1-2 classes a week (the same day if 2 classes); each class at vYbe studio is about an hour & something long! Near the end of the year, I started going more spaced out around 1 class every 1-3 weeks because of my pregnancy morning sickness and fatigue
