LED OCD on a Stern Rolling Stones
I received my LED OCD board the other night and installed it on my Rolling Stones (pro). Here are some before and after clips (as well as a quick side-by-side) of the lights running in the attract mode.
I recently installed another LED OCD board in my Ripley's Believe it or Not machine. See that video for side-by-side comparisons: http://youtu.be/9IctOItuwlU
LEDs typically cause a lot of flicker, and the LED OCD board helps smooth things out. The best I can describe it is that it causes the lights to pulse and throb smoothly, whereas LED inserts normally will have a strobe-like effect. If you look carefully at the "before" (full screen) and then look closely at the "after" (full screen) you should be able to see a difference in smoothness in how the lights pulse.
What's cool about this board is that you can customize how the lights turn on and off to get things looking just right to you. For my game, I have a couple of things I need to tweak still, but for the most part things are looking a little more natural than before. Unfortunately due to the quality of my camera and the fact that YouTube chops half the frames out of the video, this isn't going to do it justice. It really needs to be seen in person.
For those with DMD-era Williams, Data East or Stern machines, and if you have or are considering LEDs, I highly recommend this board. Installation was relatively quick and easy. Link: http://herg.homeip.net/ledocd/index.html
