15By traveling into doghouse glitch world #2, it is possible to find some Pieces of Heart. After collecting them, if you go a certain number of screens away and come back, they reappear. This lets you exceed the normal maximum health, which causes all sorts of strange errors in the game.
This might also be possible to do in the DX version of the game, but I haven't had any success. The DX doghouse world #2 is more unstable. All Pieces of Heart I've found there immediately fell into the void when I entered the screen they were on.
