It's morning and you survived the night, now it's time to continue through town and storm the cathedral. There are a couple of mini boss fights against a minotaur and a griffon respectively. Near the end I get a new weapon, the powerful SAW machine gun, not great at long range but an absolute beast at close or mid range. It'll be one of my main weapons for the rest of the game.
