This is a 1:8 scale Lego RC model of the Bateman Assault Bridge Carrier, an early British experimental bridge-laying 'tank'.

The BABC was designed in 1925-1926 by Major H. H. Bateman of the Experimental Bridging Establishment based at Christchurch, England. It was based upon the chassis of the Medium Dragon Mk. I Artillery Tractor, and carried a completely rigid bridge that was deployed using a winch. Many modern bridge-layers use the scissor-bridge type system of assault bridge, however the BABC came before this system was used. The vehicle was trialled at the Premier Dominion Power & Speed Demonstration at Camberley, England in 1926.

The vehicle was tested by the Royal Engineers (R.E.) in collaboration with the Experimental Bridging Establishment. It was rejected after trials due to the drop in military funding inflicted by the Geddes Axe of the 1920s.
