LEGO Space Police Hyperspeed Pursuit (2009) - Unboxing, Speed Build & Review
LEGO Space Police retired 7 years ago, but we were able to get set 5973 Hyperspeed Pursuit for this LEGO unboxing, speed build and review video. LEGO Space Police Hyperspeed Pursuit was released in 2009 and came from the third wave of Space Police sets following earlier Space Police launches in 1989 and 1992. Space Police gave way to the Alien Conquest (2011) and Galaxy Squad (2013) LEGO themes.
This 456 piece LEGO Space Police set includes three LEGO minifigures including a Space Police officer and The Skull Twins, a pair of bad guy alien twins (identical minifigures). One of The Skull Twins is captured by the Space Police and has been imprisoned in a pod at the back of the Space Police cruiser. The remaining Skull Twin is attempting to rescue him (or her) by firing canons at a target on the back of the Space Police cruiser making for some interesting interactive LEGO play.
The Space Police vehicle is a cool LEGO build and has an exploding prison pod but no firing weapons. The Alien Skull Interceptor features two powerful LEGO canons which I demonstrate in this LEGO review video. This Space Police set retailed for $49.99.
Officially, this LEGO theme is referred to as LEGO Space Police III as this is the third reboot of the theme, the first and second of which were themed more closely to classic LEGO Space. Space Police III contains much more sophisticated minifigure designs, not least The Skull Twins which come with in interesting rubber molded head which bears an uncanny resemblance to the mysterious Ood from BBC's Doctor Who.
