Lemmings SEGA Mega Drive - The Funtastic Adventure Part 1

480p is recommended for best Quality.

This is one of the greatest SEGA Mega Drive games available on the 16-bit console, unfortunately it is highly underrated and never did recieve the attention and praise it deserved. It's high-fidelity soundtrack produced through FM synthesis is also highly underrated aswell. The soundtrack to this game is better than most other Mega Drive soundtracks. If you're a fan of the 16-bit Sonic The Hedgehog soundtracks, then there's no excuse why you wouldn't like this soundtrack. It uses all the exact same musical instruments that the Sonic soundtracks used. The only difference is the drumkit itself. Same hi-hat cymbals, same twanga bass guitar and same FM synthesizers but different bass and snare drums.

This is a fun action puzzle game originally created by DMA design and published by Psygnosis for the Amiga in 1991. Lemmings quickly became an instant hit and got ported to every console and PC you can think of, this is the SEGA Mega Drive 16-bit port of Lemmings developed conversion by Sunsoft and published by SEGA of Japan. This particular version shown is the PAL 50Hz version.

The object of the game is to escort the required Lemmings or as many as possible in each level to the exit which usually looks like a little house or a dog kennel using skills to get safely pass the many obstacles standing in the way. The intro screen to each level lets the player know how many of the little naughty rascals have to be saved, in most ports of Lemmings the Lemmings are measured by percentage% out of 100 and in others the game will just ask you to save for example 17 out of 20 instead of 85% out of 100%.

The Funtastic Adventure is simply my long play through the first mode which is Fun. I decided to do a long play of this classic 16-bit port of Lemmings by completing as many levels as I could in a video.

The Lemmings move alot faster in the SEGA Mega Drive version, compared to the SEGA Master System, NES and Super Nintendo ports which all play and move alot slower.

LEVELS:

1. Just Dig
2. Only Floaters Can Survive This
3. Tailor Made For Blockers
4. Now Use Miners And Climbers
5. You Need Bashers This Time
6. A Task For Blockers And Bombers
7. Builders Will Help You Here
8. Not As Complicated As It Looks
9. As Long As You Try Your Best
10. 5 Miles If You Love Lemmings
11. Keep Your Hair On Mr Lemming
12. Patience
13. We All Fall Down

MUSIC BY: Hirohiko Takayama 1992.

MUSIC PROGRAMMER: Tsukamoto 1992.

Recorded from an original PAL HD SEGA Mega Drive model 1 console.

No emulators were used in the making of this video. As proof you can hear the ''quantization noise'' in the background of the music where the notes last longer than they're supposed to which is only present in early model 1 discrete FM-YM2612 sound chips. Later ASIC-based FM-YM2612's and emulators featured a dolby noise reduction in the audio where the musical notes were shorter and did not have any quantization noise added.

Enjoy!
