G’day guys, Mennace here and in this video I want to check out a game that has yet to be released call Scrap Mechanic. About 2 months ago Zueljin showed me the trailer video we are looking at now and since that moment I was hooked. The look and feel of the art style, and the simple yet intricate approach to game mechanics really brought back nostalgic feelings of my experiences in some of the first tech minecraft mods I ever played. In fact the team of developers were spear heading the Xbox 360 version of minecraft, unfortunately their adaptation did not move forward, but the team used the left-overs to create this game currently in development.
So what is it exactly? It is a multiplayer survival game developed by Axolotgames, built around imagination and ingenuity where you play as a robot maintenance mechanic, sent to a planet filled with autonomous agricultural machines programmed to upkeep and harvest crops. As your journey to the surface nears completion, the ship you are travelling in experiences some difficulties and you crash. Luckily you survive but are now stranded and as you survey your new surroundings things seem a bit off. The robots who are supposed to run the farming lands have gone haywire and you must utilise your skills in building and engineering to, not only survive in this landscape void of humans, but fend off and defeat the aggressive argibots who threaten your very existence.
To gather resources, you wield a mighty sledgehammer used to smash up various structures and objects for resource gathering. Throughout the planet you can find rare and unique items such as engines, steering wheels, bearings and more to create contraptions as simple or complex as you can imagine. There is also lifts, thrusters, suspension, crowbars, sensors, radios and controllers that can be used and already I can tell that the replay value of this game will be high. The development team have their own channel with spotlights on what several of these items can do, I have placed a link in the description and highly recommend you watch all of the videos.
So far the game is not released and everything that we have seen has been in a creative situation, according to their steam greenlight page they are working on the survival multiplayer aspects as well as an expected 20th of January 2016 early access period, according to their twitter. I really hope that the team can reach this goal because I am very excited about this title and plan on doing a whole heap of videos for this channel.
If you like the look of Scrap Mechanic you can follow their devblog via their website or social media which I have also linked below. I highly recommend you all keep an eye on this one, I think it will be a whole heap of fun!
I hope you enjoyed this video, hit that thumbs up if you want to see some Scrap Mechanic gameplay or even some more videos where I check out upcoming games, if you know of one, suggest it in the comments below. My name is Mennace, thanks for watching!
