LET'S COMPLETE AN AMERICAN TAIL IN UNDER 30 MINUTES
Developed by Data Design, Published by Blast, it's another bad DDI game. Except not only is this licensed, not only is this a MOVIE licensed game for An American Tail, but it's also like a gallery of all the reused gameplay assets they have been doing for almost every single game they ever developed.
First 2 levels? Monkey Ball ripoff. 3rd level? That Billy the Wizard game pops in, only with the god awful framerate due to bad optimisation. Levels 4 and 6? You guys like Ninjabread Man, Anubis 2 and Myth Makers Trixie in Toyland? How about level 8? It's similar to their racing games... except it's somehow worse because you can't control your acceleration or brake and the steering is much more awkward. Level 9 is similar. The only "original" ones are Levels 3, 5 and 7, and they are all the same: Float down to the bottom, avoiding stuff and maybe grabbing stars and hearts.
Btw, all those stars? That "extra challenge"? Pointless. You don't have to get any of them at all. So i didn't get them all in every level. Hell, you don't need all the bird seed, you can make a straight line for the cheese if you want. You don't even need to knock down the rats, as long as the big guy goes down. So much of this is just point A to B and the rest is pointless fluff.
The only thing this game has that might be alright is it does follow the movie, kinda, not that well though, and the music here, in some cases, IS original for this game. Though they do play their usual songs, like the main menu!
Commentary track will come soon.
Overall, just another DDI product not worth getting. It's not the shortest longplay i've done though. Habitrail Hamster Ball still beats this by 1 minute. Though it can be possible to beat this faster than that game. The main thing to take from this is that it's another crap, under 30 minute PS2 game from Data Design that showcases just how bad they are as shovelware game developers. It's surprisingly more lazy than most movie based games on kids movies from back in the PS1 era!
