To be honest, I don't like this game. I love the style, the idea, but the checkpoints and certain enemies are just too much of a pain. It's like Trine, where the gameplay is bleh sometimes but everything else feels incredible!
I still wouldn't recommend it, if only because of the few rough spots.
Anyway, this is a short game. 15 levels, and I reach level 10-11 in the next video. It's a hard game, but worth a playthrough just to make you think. The next video goes up tomorrow!
So, Jasper is a Loffin with a catnapping problem. And witches. And Incredibly Evil Potions.
Jasper, however, posses the power of great jumping and turning healthy fruits into deadly magic discs! Combined with great agility, he must fight a way to free his cat!
Special treasure is also found, which can be spent at shops for items:
Shields: The Inn ALWAYS has at least one of these for 60 coins. Protects from one hit. Three at max.
Fruit: Commonly, he'll stop 40 fruits for 40 coins!
Potions: Random potions. Typically over 100 coins.
Save: It saves per level, but you can buy a save for an easy ten coins.
Coins also act as your score for the highscore table!
Death is little issue as no real score or fruits are lost. However, it can get tedious.
Which is the game's main issue. Deaths are common and annoying, mostly by the sheer randomness by which enemies attack and move, making it hell on higher difficulty levels!
Each level ends by finding the blue dragon, or sometimes the purple one (for a fruit bonus level). Getting 3 golden orbs gives a coin bonus level.
Enemies, on death, drop some 1 coin items which break on bouncing once, or a 5 fruit item!
The goons:
Goblin Troop: This simple dude walks around. Hit him once, his helm flies off! This helm can be destroyed for treasue with three fruits, or you can hit the goon again for the kill.
Blue Bomber: This Blue Bird drops bouncy stones! He's hard to hit, but his rock falls slow and he doesn't fire fast. Take him down with a single fruit or let him be.
The Wizard: Casts homing spells. Stop these spells with fruit or solid surfaces! These wizards did Warrior training and take 4 hits to kill!
Spike Top: This... thing... shoots spikes! Four, in a symetrical high-low pattern. He takes a few hits, but he can't get around to well, so you're best to ignore him!
Gargoyle Firebrand: Stuck in a wall, shooting perioud shots of fire. He's a tricky one! Impossible to kill though.
Imp: Blocks attacks with his shield! Attack randomly and avoid his sneaky fireball attack!
Giant Red Ogre: Shoots big, painful balls of fire in bursts of three. He's a hell to kill, so avoid combat if possible!
Ghost: Doesn't drop items and respawns! A unique enemy.
Big Red Blob: Slow, harmless, explodes into four small blobs when hit.
Small Red Blob: Gives 1 item drop. Rather harmless otherwise.
Also...
Big Metal-Coated Swine: Armoured Pig.
This guy explodes into lots of non-homing projectiles when he curls up, so stay away. With 15 hitpoints, he's hard to kill without Triple Shot!
