Let's mosey around Junon for a bit | FF7 Rebirth (Part 4)
"Fort Condor...", he started.
I was shown the paper battlefield in front of me. Don't know why he wanted to show me this. Didn't even know how to play at the time, and wouldn't care to play if I did.
But I remember when I gave an ear to what he had to say about this game. He went on and on about it being more than just that. I humored him. It could be someone's life, a valuable battle strategy, or a philosophy to go by.
Something about what he said piqued my interest. And the more he spoke, the more I understood him. The more I wanted to learn. It was... very exciting. I needed to know more, to the point where I didn't want this to stop. I wanted to receive his hot burning wisdom. Almost pleaded to it, even.
Still focusing on the board, I saw a black-gloved hand lift a piece. I then looked up to him, staring at the little guy. Kinda judging it.
"This soldier will give his life for you, hoping his sacrifice brings a step closer to victory", he said calmly. Would you do the same?"
I made a small gasp, unprepared to answer him. My mouth started to move, needing to reply.
He turned from the piece to me, dead in my eyes with a smirk. "Would you be willing to hold your fate in another's hand?"
I don't remember responding, but I felt my mouth quiver as if I did. He seemed pleased afterward.
