Let's Peek - Our Darker Purpose
One of these days, I'll actually showcase a game I'm good at. For now, though, let's take a look at Our Darker Purpose, released on Steam in January of 2014. This is a game that, gameplay-wise, resembles games like The Binding of Isaac, where you have a series of randomly stuck together rooms you navigate through on a floor until you find a boss, pick up random powerups, and try to survive long enough to reach the last floor. It's a twin stick shooter where the bullets have momentum if you're moving around.
And yet, there are differences. Most notably, the aesthetic is more Tim Burton and less internal body organs, the protagonist is a girl that survived an attack by other classmates at a magical school and not a boy escaping from his mother, and the game is skewed in favor of the players ability to dodge/move/shoot instead of lucking out when getting items.
If you like twin-stick shooters with a spooky ambiance, this one won't steer you wrong.
