26Do you like Silent Hunter? Do you like thorough and accessible turn-based strategy games? Do you like it when people ask you these kinds of questions to pique your interest about a product or service? If the answer was yes to the first two questions, and "shut up and get to the point" to the third question, then Atlantic Fleet is the game for you!
Rather than commanding a single sub, you're in command of either the German or Allied navy in the Atlantic theater of WW2. The game revolves around the convoy system that served as Britain's lifeblood. Further stretching that metaphor, imagine the German Navy as a bunch of spooky vampires out to drink that blood, while the British Navy is like the assorted members of the Belmont family. I think that's a hip and relevant way to describe the Battle of the Atlantic.
As you maneuver your fleets across the seas, it's inevitable that you will encounter the enemy. Battles are handled in a sort of X-Com meets World of Warships situation. Each ship gets a turn to move and attack, with the aiming left largely to the player. Subs get to fire torpedoes, and you can even launch air assaults, but I'm terrible at those so I won't talk about that anymore.
